This is the most nutritious part of the orange for you: pith. Pith is the white stuff that is on the actual orange “guts” and on the inside of the orange peel. It has tons of fiber (to keep you regular) and 4x as much Vitamin C as the actual orange. #nutrition #fiber #vitaminc #orange #fact #instafact #eatitbitch #pith (at Bed Bath & Beyond)
Random #fact. I will NOT eat an #orange if it has any trace of #pith on it (that means it takes FOREVER for me to peel it). #ButSug, it’s good for you and stuff. Um, so. My mouth doesn’t like it and neither do I. I will eat the pith if it’s blended in a smoothie tho. *shrugs*
fuck its called pith
The core, the essence
The heart, the nub
The pivot, the point
The crux, the sum
The base, the nexus
The center, the eye
The Mecca, the hub
The root, the nuclei
The kernel, the gist
The omphalos, the locus
The centerpiece, the net
The cynosure, the focus
The origin of all that’s thought
The capital of what is wished
The bottom line to all of this
Is at the epicenter you are my pith
I did two batches to see if there was a flavor difference:
-one just the flesh of the watermelon
-one that included the white section around the flesh, green outer skin removed
They were both good and I liked having two flavors.
Juicing the section with the white part had to be chopped into extra small cubes for the blender to pulverize them. It made almost twice the volume as the other half.
I’m pleased that I like the juice with the white part so I can get more out of my produce.
I think it maybe too early in the season to find an organic watermelon where I live…can’t wait for all the summer fruits to arrive!
When lit, the orange peel gives off a romantic, beautiful glow and a subtle citrus aroma. It is easy to assemble and brings an elegant feel to the room.
- 1 orange
- Pith of the orange (The thin, white, thread-like material attached to the inside of the peel that also attaches to the edible fruit flesh)
- Olive oil
- Optional: Essential oil - 100% pure orangeDirections:Place the pith in the center of the orange peel, pressing down gently. Pour olive oil inside the peel. Add 3 drops of the optional essential oil.Light the pith. You need to hold the match to the pith for at least 15 seconds before it will light.Sit back and watch it glow! You will be surprised how long just a little olive oil will go!
